Democratic Rights

NCERT In Text

The Constitution does not give people their religion. Then how can it give people the right to practice their religion?

It is true that our Constitution does not give people their religion. It is because India is a secular state which means that the state does not establish any one religion as official religion. But at the same time the Constitution gives every person the right to profess, practice and propagate the religion he/she believes in.
